Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions:
When the butter is soft, add 1 cup of granulated sugar and cream them together in a large bowl until they are light and fluffy
Mix the molasses and egg into the butter mixture by beating it in well
Add the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg to a different bowl and mix them together using a whisk
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones, mixing only until everything is well combined
Put the cookie dough in the fridge for at least an hour, or until it is firm
Warm the oven up to 375F 190C and put parchment paper on baking sheets
Cut the chilled dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each one in the last 1/2 cup of sugar
Place the dough balls covered in sugar about 2 inches apart on the baking sheets that have been prepared
The cookies should be baked in a hot oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until they are set and have a few cracks on top
Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way
After the Molasses Cookies have cooled, put them in a container that wont let air in
